Despite the moral standings behind teaching abstinence-only courses, comprehensive sex education should be mandated in schools around the country. It is in human nature for hormonal teenagers to be sexually active, and the potential of them risking their lives because they are uninformed of safe sex practices is enough to enforce Sex-Ed into all schools.

There is a strong case towards abstinence only education, but it has proven that in today’s society, teenagers are going to have sex and there is not anything any schooling or religious groups or parents can do to prevent it, or even delay it.

It is important students are also made aware that safe sex is not limited to intercourse. Oral sex may not impregnate an individual but it is not uncommon to contract many different STI’s from the activity, some of which are incurable and deadly.
